WHAT’s NEW
BGI Visit
(December 30, 2017)
The visit to BGI-Shenzhen, one of the world’s largest genome sequencing centers, was organized on 30 December to further broaden the outlook of students in the field of genomics and bioinformatics. Prof. Tsui Kwok Wing, Head of our MSc programme, Dr. Huang Yongjie, our new lecturer, and nine MSc students and alumni visited the organization.
With the warm welcome and enthusiastic introduction by staffs from BGI, we walked through the BGI museum and the mass spectrometry analysis platform. This visit helped students gain more hands-on experiences of how sequencing is performed, identify prospective areas of work and understand how “Trans-omics” improves our real-life. We sincerely thanks all the participants and colleagues from BGI for their kind hosting.
